After much consideration of guidance from St. Paul's, physicians, and government officials, the Troop has decided to cancel all in-person activities at St. Paul's for the next 3 weeks at least. Some events will continue as conference calls and others are still being evaluated. We will continue monitoring disease progress within our community and may further extend the cancellations at a later date.
3/16: Viking Patrol Meeting is cancelled. 3/16: Troop Meeting is cancelled. 3/22: Indoor Archery is cancelled. 3/23: Troop Committee meeting will continue as a web conference. (link on troop calendar) 3/25: Gear check for Coyote Hills is TBD 3/28: Coyote Hills cycling trip is TBD
STILL ON
Plan for success. The NYLT, Philmont, and Camp Royaneh are all still being planned as it is likely these will all occur after the crisis has passed.
It's not too late to sign up and put your deposits down so that we may continue preparations. Please sign up for these ASAP.
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
The Troop leadership wants to find ways to move forward with on line programs during this time. We are looking at holding virtual merit badge classes, along with remote advancement and sign offs. As such, we will be looking for adults to step up to lead Merit Badge classes. (Parents: What class are you interested in leading?) Here are some merit badges we are considering, some of which may be self-driven:
Eagle Required: Camping; Citizenship in the Community, Nation, and World; Communications; Cooking; Environmental Science; Family Life; Personal Fitness; Personal Management; Sustainability
The Viking Patrol meetings will likely be restructured so that they may continue online. Stay tuned!
Scouts who starting new Positions of Responsibility should meet with the SPL and SM to review expectations. Those meetings will be via conference call and are scheduled in the coming week.
COMMUNICATION
We've heard from some Scouts and families that they are not receiving our emails and e-blasts. Some of the boys are saying they don't know what's going on. We have a way you can help us fix that! Please update your family's contact information, including proper email addresses in your family's profile on our website at https://www.t28burlingame.org/home. Instructions are pages 1-4 of the attached PDF.
